Jochem de Groot
I was tasked with making a concept for a protagonist of a "new video game" about time manipulation and puzzles.
The Game.
Story.

The game starts with you the main character, receiving inheritance to your recently deceased grandma's mansion. You and your grandma where close and you have fond memories of her, yet You cannot remember that you have ever actually been to her home.

When moving out of the busy city to Your newly owned mansion You find out it has been overrun by nature and neglected for years. You start the process of renovating the building and go inside to explore. The long hallways are cold and quiet, but during Your first night in the mansion You find out there's weird things going on inside. There is an odd feeling in the air. When looking around at grandma's stuff You pick up a vase, but upon touching the vase You see the mansion around You as if someone was still living in it. The fireplace is burning and there are cozy candles everywhere. You hear Your grandma talking to a mysterious figure. Shockingly the voice is coming out of You. You are seeing a vision of Your grandma from back when she was alive. You don't understand the language she is speaking but You do notice she looked at a hallway that wasn't there when You where exploring. The flashback end and You go over to the wall where there was a hallway in the flashback. You break open the wall with a crowbar and find a secret entrance. But why was it built off?

Gameplay.

The whole game takes place inside of the mansion where You progress by revisiting the memories of Your mysterious grandma to uncover new area's but also learn about the story and world.
Style.
Style and feeling in the current. cold and hostile. (inspired by eldritch horror and liminal spaces)
Style and feeling during the visions. a warm and cozy feeling, like a hug from Your grandma.
Prototype.
Since the main character is foreign to the location of the game, I wanted him to stand out from the world but also look like he's ready to take on the adventure he's going on.

I tried going with an urban-ish vibe and trendy clothing mixed with functionality.
